Abstract:

The goal of this study was to design and evaluate extended - release system of the hypnotic agent, Zolpidemtartrate usefulness for the treatment of insomnia. The half-life of this drug is about 1.9 - 3 hours that indicatingit a candidate for the extended release formulation. Our investigation relates to development of extendeddrug delivery system based on Hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose (HPMCK4M) as release retardant, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP k30) as binder and Magnesium Stearate using Factorial design. In vitro release study ofmatrix tablets was carried out in 0.01N HCl for 2 hours. All prepared matrix tablets were evaluated forphysicochemical evaluation and drug content. The formulation that had release profile according to UnitedState Pharmacopoeia selected for stability study according to ICH guidelines

Formulation and Evaluation of Controlled-Release Tablet of Zolpidem Tartrate by Melt Granulation Technique

The present investigation describes the influence of the concentration of PEG 6000 as a melt binder and ratio of HPMC K4M : PVP on Zolpidem tartrate controlled-release tablet formulations using 3(2) full factorial design. The ratio of HPMC K4M and PVP K30 (X(1)) and the concentration of melt binder (X(2)) were selected as independent variables, and drug release at 1 hr (Q(1)), 4 hr (Q(4)), 8 hr...

Formulation and Evaluation of Mouth Dissolving Tablet of Zolpidem Tartrate

Conventional solid dosage form suffers from problem like difficulty in swallowing with age, onset of action and physiological factor of patient like gastric emptying time. To overcome this mouth dissolving tablet is a newer approach to drug delivery. Zolpidem is preferentially used for the short term treatment of insomnia. The aim of present study is to formulate and evaluate mouth dissolving t...

A Statistical Approach Towards Development and Optimization of Conventional Immediate Release Tablet of Nimorazole by Wet Granulation Technique

Till date, most of the drugs have been given in conventional immediate release dosage form. Nimorazole is an anticancer drug, used as a hypoxic radiosensitizer in patients undergoing radiotherapy and no formulation has been available in the market till now. Hence, for the purpose to develop an immediate release dosage form, a statistical optimization process has been employed to quantify the ef...

Validated Spectrophotometric method for the estimation of Zolpidem tartrate in Bulk and Tablet Formulation

Three simple, precise and economical UV spectrophotometric methods have been developed for the estimation of Zolpidem tartrate in bulk and tablet formulations. Zolpidem tartrate has absorbance maxima at 293 nm in zero order spectrum method (Method A ) First order derivative spectra of drug, showed λ maxima = 305 nm and λ minima = 280 nm and amplitude difference was measured for the respective c...

Formulation and Evaluation of Mouth Dissolving Films of Zolpidem Tartrate by Exploration of Polymers Combination

Fast dissolving drug delivery is the new approach to administer drugs; mouth dissolving film is one of them. The object of the present research work was to formulate a mouth dissolving film of Zolpidem tartrate from polymers Hydroxypropyl cellulose (EF-P) with a combination of Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose K-15 by solvent casting method for enhancing the drug release rate and absorption to inc...
